From: "Inquisitor Gary Boshears" Subject: Darkness Wakes Prologue Date: Tue, 16 Feb 1999 22:32:04 -0600 I changed the prologue for this some. It's real short but I finally got it to where I like it. This is just a little setup and doesn't directly tie in with anything in the main part of "Darkness Wakes". Well enough rambling, enjoy! Archeological Expedition Distant World August 12, 2579 The dust was cleared. The archeological team had managed to uncover where they believed a city had once stood. There was nothing in this place. Nothing but rocks and sand. They had picked up an energy signature from orbit, where was it? Then they were all called to one place. A member of the team had found something. It appeared to be an ancient recording device. It did not take them long to figure out how to activate it. On the screen, an image of a Human woman appeared. It was Elizabeth Lochley, they had all read about her in history books. She began to speak. The beginning of the Earth year 2272, was marked with joy. The planet Earth celebrated as a deadly plague which threatened to wipe out the entire population of that planet was cured. But as the people of Earth celebrated, it was not known to anyone that in the darkness of space and evil was brewing. An evil which threatened to destroy life in a different way. This evil, came at us with everything they had. We fought them. Admiral Jerry Barns led us and we fought them for years. Until we were stopped. Stopped by our own inability to see the truth. We couldn't see what was in front of us. We had all the pieces to the puzzle but we couldn't put them together to make a picture. In the end, we paid for our blindness. We paid, with out sweat, our tears, our blood and for many of us, our lives. For certain reasons, we had to hide the truth. If you're seeing this recording, than it's a few hundred years after it was recorded. This was when we determined we could let the truth be known. Some of what you will see in the following, you will be familiar with. There was no way that we could hide it. The rest, it's your choice what you will do with your new knowledge. All that we can do now is give it to you........ Since I forgot to put it in the second part of Chapter 7, here's the Chapter 8 preview: "Then we will no longer be a part of this Alliance!" The Brakiri Ambassador shouted out. With those words the Council Chamber was filled with noise, most or all of it in agreement with his statement. Barns conceded. If it wasn't one thing it was another. "So if I show you that I can hurt the Keilmar, you'll stay in the Alliance and keep fighting this war?" "Yes," the Brakiri Ambassador said. "All of you have to do is stop their advance and we will continue to fight, unquestionably." Barns shook his head. "That's all?" He thought. gb "There is always hope - only because it's the one thing no one's figured out how to kill yet." Techno-Mage Galen "Babylon Project Crusade" ICQ # 8694414 Visit all of these.
